Geri Abrams’ TAG Throughout the years Tag has excelled as a trial dog as well as being a go-to ranch dog, helping out when called upon for set out, moving, sorting or loading sheep. He has been the “dog to beat” on the trial field, excelling in every venue, on all stock, field and arena alike. Tag has moved the bar a little higher for all of us. Tag was a two year qualified USBCHA Nursery dog and has gone on to earn many USBCHA open points. Even with limited USBCHA trialing across the country, he was recognized as an exceptional dog every place he ran. He has competed successfully against some of the top USBCHA dogs in many of the tougher trials like Meeker. Tag has won several NM State Championships. He has competed through the years in USBCHA, AHBA, and ASCA earning many titles. Tag is also the sire of several of our club members up and coming trial dogs, as well as numerous dogs currently competing in many of the herding venues. To sum it up, Tag has been and continues to be, an exceptional stock dog the consistently preforms at the highest level.
2017 Hall of Fame Inductee:
Kathie Woods’ SPUR, “Open Heart Bar Spur” Spur is our first “second generation” Hall of Fame Dog. His father, Jet, was inducted in 2012. Spur had some big shoes to step into as Jet had been Kathie’s go-to dog for years. In 2011, as a youngster, Spur was called upon to work set-out when Jet hurt his back. He has been the set out dog for all of our club events, FTB trials, NMSDA trials, and all-around ranch dog ever since. Spur has been an indispensable partner to Kathie in her roll of Stock Director for trials. He works from sun up to sun down, regardless of weather, sore feet, cranky stock, and often times, at the sacrifice of his own trialing performance. Although not Spur’s forte, he has done pretty well as a trial dog. He has participated in all NMHDA, NMSDA, and FTB events. He has earned an AHBA Herding Trial Championship (HTCH), an AKC Herding Championship (HC), USBCHA open points, as well as many titles in AKC, AHBA, and ASCA. Spur was the NMHDA 2012 Dog of the Year and was runner up in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. In addition to Spur’s work as a stock dog, he is also a registered Therapy Dog. He has been visiting nursing homes for the past 7 years on a weekly basis. He has been recognized by AKC for his work and has been awarded the AKC Therapy Dog Excellent title. Spur’s work through the years has earned him the respect as an honest, dependable, hardworking ranch dog. He exemplifies the meaning of “partner”.
